Utahs Big 5

Yellow! Finally got around to typing this up. for y'all who didn't know that my brother got in car accident and has been in the hospital for a good bit. At the time of me typing this he is set to go home in 2 days! Thank you Jesus!! flew back home for about 2 weeks then flew back out to Cali to finish the trip up. A lot has happed between then and now and I honestly have the memory of Dory off finding Nemo. So I will try my best to sum it all up in the post! So i ended up staying the my aunts good friends in Fresno for a couple days and she was awesome! Moved onto Death Valley and there I legit not much there. Some cool dunes and a hike or 2 but that was about it. Went through Nevada and finally made it to Utah. I was planning to taking 2 weeks to go though the 5 parks again....... but the first night hit 9 degrees and made the smart decision to move a little faster!! Hit Zion and luckily got a permit to hike Angles Landing which was beautiful! definitely not a sketchy as everyone made it out to be. After hanging out at Zion I hit bryce canyon which was even cooler the second time around. Something something happened, still freaking cold every night which sucked. Boggied to Capitol Reef and hiked there for the day! Yet again 10 degrees that night :). My last too days I spent at Canyonlands and the arches and hiked till I couldnt feel me legs. Stayed the night with a feller in moab which was nice. This is short but been busy. Right now I am a few hours from Colorado springs and legit after I hit there I am heading to some warm weather!! probably my last national park post but I will make some updates along the way on my last few weeks on the road> PEACE!

RedWoods National Park/Grace Community Church

Them thangs were huge! The pictures I have seen definitely did not do them justice! Camped on the coast while I hit many parks up and down. Spent about 2 days checking everything out and seeing some beautiful views! Meet this sweet couple from Cali and gave them a ride. Didn’t really do much hiking just mostly driving and stopping and soaking it all in. After the Redwoods I headed down the coast and stay and stopped and camped out side of Fort Bragg on Sat. Found a church called Grace Community Church. So went there that morning. Definitely one of the best church’s I have been too! Meet the preacher and everyone there, after church I started down the road and God called me back to serve for a bit back at the church. Stayed there for a week and got to know Greg and Val very well. Definitely keep me busy for the week I was there and later that week he taught how to surf like a boss. Meet some great people my age that were on fire for the Lord. Plus Val’s cooking was the bomb! Very blessed and honored for that opportunity! Definitely a highlight on my trip! Peace!!! Pictures coming soon!

Mount Rainer/ Mount Saint helens

Making my way from Seattle I got around to hike and explore mount Rainer. Got there at the start of this week with just okish weather which was ok. Of course there was a huge line at the entrance. Was about half way through and my temp shot straight up. Pulled off on the side and sandy was crying a river of coolant. Ended up having a hole in one of my coolant lines. Slapped her full off water and headed back to a smaller town about a hour and half away. Believe it or not meet a awesome guy that has had countless VWs that helped me out. When I got here all patched up he said I could come to his place for the night to check everything out. That morning headed right back to Rainer. Unfortunately I can’t see Rainer at all, even at the top! Hit some dope hikes and a stunning water fall! Meet a local Vanagon owner from Seattle. Talked for a bit and gave me some cheese… After being a Rainer all day i went                                                                                                                                                                        back to Tims and barely got my teeth brushed and I was out. That morning me and him hung out for a bit. He had some extra parts and cargo carrier for me which was awesome!!! Left out that afternoon and seen that the weather was still going to be cloudy for the next day or 2. Late that afternoon made It to Mount St Helens. Found a spot that was about 10 minutes for the summit trail and called it a day. Started pretty early cause the its says it usually take 8 hours to hike. After about 4 hours of hiking 5000 ft and scrambling up rocks and ash. I laid at the top for a solid 15 minutes. Meet cool guy traveling from Germany. Hiked all the way back down and got back to the camp site and died. Hit about 3 or 4 miles of under ground caves all by self! It was pitch black and my butt was clinched. After about 5 hours of the caves headed to Portland where I found some folks the let me take a shower and stay at there place. Nanette was super sweet and had some sweet VWs, feed me breakfast and coffee that morning and I was gone. Currently above an hour from the coast and will find a church in the morning and then hit the beach.:))) PEACE

North Cascades/ Olympic National Park

ahhh the north cascades! Another amazing park to add to the list! So when I say there is no service anywhere I mean it. So for a good bit of my time there I had no idea where I was at which is not always a bad time. Ended up going out of the park to get service so I could find some trails. Found one that looked sweet and headed there (second day there) after driving about 1 hour or so to the other side of the park I come to find that the gps took to the wrong side of the park. No biggy, so i found the closest hike to me which was around 8 miles and after that found a quiet parking lot tucked in the woods, later that evening a car pulled in happened to be a girl my age from Seattle that was up here for the week talked for a bit and I went to get some fire wood when she came over with a couple of other folks. Said that they were practicing 3 point roads turns in the woods....... and happen to get stuck. So you know good ol sandy pulled a car out of the ditch with a sketchy temu rope!!. That morning headed back to the other Side and finally found the trail which was straight up the Mountain which at the top I had the biggest cloud of smoke coming from the back which I knew was coolant but just went with me thinking I hit a big puddle of water. Hiked up the mountain which was I think 12 miles and 4700 ft incline. Seen a black bear foraging in the middle of the lake which was crazy. Meet some ladies that were from Canada that knew someone from Elkin Nc which I thought was crazy. Hiked to the Glacier which of course I ate my weight in snow. headed back down found a camp spot not far and that morning headed to Seattle. Stayed with a great guy right below Seattle. Got my oil changed, batteries charged, plus an outdoor shower which was much needed. Next day made it up the Olympic Park which is amazing but has the same vibe as the cascades did. Weather has been pretty sad. light rain and cloudy for a good bit. Hit a hike which was only 4 miles but 3,000 ft incline. Meet some cools people on the trail plus a Sasquatch! Think one day at the park was plenty plus the weather not look so good next couple of days. Ended up stay at Rangers house tonight tucked back in an alley. Plan to headed to a local church and then shoot down the mount Rainier. PEACE!

Glacier National Park!

Believe it or not I was pretty darn close to skipping Glacier altogether. After the the snow and cold in Wyoming I was tired of it. Looked at the forecast and was supposed to be low 70s for next couple of days so I happily hit the road! The entire drive to the park was gorgeous but when I got there i was blown away brother. Of course got my sticker and headed into the park. I hate to admit it but I might have ran off the road a couple of times.... Soon as I got half way in. i jumped to the trailers and was not disappointed either! Hiked I think 6-7 miles up to lake and water fall in the middle of the mountains. Headed to camp  Beautiful camp spot. Drove a couple of hours the next day and hit a few more trails along the way. Didn't see really any wild life but plenty of people. Meet a couple people but nothing to write to much about. Spent all day in the park seen about all I could see. slept out side the park one last time before I headed out to Washington. Hands down the best park so far in my opinion. A couple days late and a couple days later I was wanting to find a Wii for bus and found a lady selling one Idaho. Went to pick it up and meet the family was adorable! after I left she texted me telling me to come back, thinking she must have forgot a piece. When I pulled back in she said the holy spirt compeled her to give me my money back and she asked to pray over me and travels. GOD IS GOOD! PEACE!

Yellow Stone National Park

Before i start on the part of the trip I want to shout out to Jesus! I am not even kidding he has been with me every mile of the trip! From meeting random people that has given me money because they said God wanted them to bless me. To all the family's that I have meet through churches that invited me into there home for lunch and fellowship ,to leaving with bags of food and money for my trip. Even now at Yellow Stone, I was going to have to send close to 1000 bucks on a tow bill but the driver ended up being a Volkswagen expert and helped me get my bus running for little to nothing compared to the 1000$! Have meet people that let me stay at the campsite and created friendships. Along with friends and family praying for me and helping me along the way! Honestly the list could go on and on, but just wanted to say how thankful I am! Now on the the Yellow stone trip..... Yellow stone its drop dead amazing! Started off at the north entrance where I stopped by old faith and walked and see tons of geysers. even seen the big one explode. traveled up some more to see some awesome water falls and some beautiful rivers. Did mostly driving that day and ended up at the West gate were I set up camp. Meet a truck driver there and got to talking for a bit. Later that night he came to my door with 2 bags of food and tons of soup cans. He wished me the best for my trip and safe travels and he headed on. That morning I headed to the north gat e. Hit plenty more geysers and rivers. Seen some Moose and tons of elk. Mostly drove all day with not many great hikes. Found a great spot in the National Forrest and stayed there for the night. Headed out to the east gate to make my loop back around and found a awesome looking trail. Parked the bus and hiked a good 7 miles and of course on the last 3 it absolutely poured. Got back to the bus and it wouldn't crank... Ended up staying there in the parking lot in which it snowed about half a foot on me that night. That after noon called the tow company in which they quoted me a huge number but I had no other choice. I can't make this up, the driver was a VW mechanic and took me back to the shop for the night and that morning he got me up and running and saved me a ton of Money!! Let the park and made my way up to Bozeman MT. PEACE

The Tetons!!

Made it to the park on the 12th and  my jaw was on the floor for a solid 30 min. Absolutely breath taking, of course I went to the visitor center first to look at all of the pictures and pretend I am reading the wall. Got a dope sticker for bus and headed straight for the the best known trail there the delta lake trail. Meet a couple really cool guys from Pennsylvania that I ended hiking with for a good while. After the 7 mile hike up to the lake, i made to the top and it didn't even look real. stunning to put it simple. Couple of pics and hanging out I made it to the bottom and hit another trailer around Jenny lake. After 5-6 hours or so I headed to a national forrest to find a spot for the night, of course they were slap full and I ended up sharing a spot with a couple from Denmark. Either they couldn't understand me because of my accent or the fact that I probably stunk..... well the conversation definitely didn't last long. That morning headed to the canyon trail not far from the camping spot to hit a couple more miles. About Half way through seen a momma and 2 cubs crossing the trail about 20 feet in front of us which was a new one for me. Hit the end of it and coming back I seen 2 moose and the fattest chipmunk I think I have ever seen. Like it looks like he ate Alvin, Simon and Theadore! After that hike I counted close to 30 miles between both days. Had dinner on the side of the road watching the sunset and girl from cali came up to ask for some pictures of the bus and we trading of info and she was gone. It worked out great because about an hour later she said I could bum at her camp spot and hang out for the night. That morning packed it up and headed to Yellow Stone. Seen y'all then!!

Onto the Great Tetons!

From the Badlands I made my way to Wyoming! Before I left Jenny and Kenny gave me an awesome list of places to go on my trip. One of the spots that was on the was the needle highway in Custer State Park. Worked out perfect since it was only about an hour away from where I was along with Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse National monument!! So I ended up hitting Mount Rushmore first. They were pretty to say the least. Drove around and snapped some pics and mosied on to Crazy Horse. Hit the museum which I love because its just a big picture book and I don't have to read anything! Took a bus tour up to the mountain to get and better view then hoped back in the bus to the state park. Hit the needle highway as soon as I got there with out knowing to what to but was not disappointed. Definitely the best drive I have taken on the trip, with some amazing views and I very very tight tunnel to go through. Was planning on moving on but actually run into the lady with the converted schoolie, and shared a camp spot for the night which worked out perfect. That Morning we took her rig around another part of the park for a while before we parted ways. That day I went to Black Hills National Forest and camped there for 2 days at an amazing spot where I could actually see Crazy Horse from where I was. Today (Sunday , Sep 8th) I found a church close by that ended up being amazing! Great Sermon along with amazing worship music. Meet some cool folks after the service which we talked for a while and they invited me for lunch at there Moms place. Had some killer Chicken Alfredo type noodles. The mom came in clutch with awesome gift bag full of goodies. Left there and made it into Wyoming and stopped at a walmart. Until next time!

DeadLands National Park

Woke up this morning in a driveway from a couple of the name of Travis and Erin. Supper sweet folks that lived right in the middle of rapid city. Packed up and set off to badlands for the day. Quick 30 minute to the park which was the bomb but happen to get lost very easy. Finally found someone to point me in the right direction towards the top of the park. It had amazing views and was an awesome drive. The hiking trails where towards the bottom tho which worked out great. I think there was 38 miles of scenic driving on the top half. Found the trails a the bottom and hiked about 12 miles and even tho It poured on me for a good bit there was some awesome views! heading out I meet a lady named Kathleen that sold her house and started to live full time in a conversion school bus and she and I actually had the same planned up to the top of Montana, so hoping to see her along the way. Found a sweet boon-docking spot not far from the end. Great views and meet a dude named Philip from Quebec that had a Vanagon like mine that he has been living out of for the past 6 years. I Plan head to Mount Rushmore and Wind Cave National Park tomorrow and then move into Wyoming. Peace
